Alright, so if you're an 80's-90's kid like me, you definitely played on a Nintendo, right?
Well, while I still have my original Nintendo (and Sega Genesis) including some of my favorite games, and I don't plan on getting rid of them anytime soon, I am excited that Nintendo does actually have a FREE take-back program, or a repair/refurbishing program that you can use. Here's the link
Great news from their website:
"In calendar year 2014, Nintendo of America processed 349 tons of returned products (U.S., Canada and Latin America) with a 99 percent recycle rate, and reused almost two-thirds of products in their original form, which is the most environmentally friendly recycling option."
This is amazing. We want more programs like this!
While zero waste is the goal, it's unrealistic to think that video games will ever go out of business, or that everyone in the world will give them up for environmentally friendly living. Even then there are computers, DVD players, VHS players, etc with similar components to think about. So the fact that Nintendo stepped up, recognized this and offered a FREE service to entice it's customers is great customer service in my humble opinion.
